Note to self

Dear Body,

Library Girl here. I am sick and tired of your bi&*hing and complaining about how tired you feel, how your joints hurt, your body is lethargic, and how your summer shorts are a little tighter in the derriere (sp?) and the waist than they were pre-Hurricane Ike. I am taking control.

Today, I'm going to put you through the ringer. Not only are you going to eat ONLY healthy food, in appropriate portions... you are also going to survive the toughest 60-minute workout that you've had in well over a year. Remember back when you had the best trainer ever that you paid for when you lived w/ the 'rents? Well, now, you're going to Boot Camp.

3 days a week, for the next 4 weeks, you will bring your workout clothes to school, change, and at 4 pm sharp, you'll be out on the back field, waiting to have your booty kicked... or more specifically... to have your booty whipped into shape. In return for this hour of torture (which includes hideous cardio work like short sprints, jumping jacks, high-knee skipping), and strength training (which includes push-ups, plank holds, and lunges), you will pay actual money.

And you will die a little bit.

But you'll do it surrounded by colleagues and friends, with a smile on your sweaty face, and each day you go will get a little bit easier, until one day, when you walk off the field at 5 pm sharp, you will know that you've crossed over from the dark side where you have been residing for the past 18 months. And you will love yourself for it. Just like you did today.
